An accident involving a school bus and two cars, which took place in Northern Illinois around 8 a.m. Friday the 5th, resulted in the death of a male driver and the injuries of dozens of school children.
Authorities have reported that a man was killed and around 30 schoolchildren injured when an elementary school bus collided with two vehicles after the bus driver allegedly ran a red light. However, conflicting witness accounts have led to the authorities being unsure of the cause of the accident.
Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran Jr. said the bus crashed first into the passenger side of a Jeep Wrangler, instantly killing the male driver, before spinning into another vehicle.
Advocate Condell Medical Center spokesperson Josh McColough said, out of the 25 children admitted to the hospital, only two suffered major injuries. Meanwhile, at the Vista Medical Center East inWaukegan, hospital spokesman John Griffin reported that one child is in fair condition, while five others are in good condition.
