A female bicyclist was recently killed after she was struck by a semitrailer truck in Chicago, a report of Daily Herald stated on August 17.
According to reports on August 16, a bicyclist identified as Lisa Kuivinen, 20, was struck while in the bicycle lane by a semitrailer in the vicinity of Racine Avenue and Milwaukee Avenue intersection. The School of the Art Institute of Chicago student succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The semitrailer driver only identified as a 37-year-old man reportedly remained at the crash scene, police said. At least two citations were given to him by police for being reckless while behind the wheel and for driving a vehicle in a bike lane. He is expected to appear in court on September 15.
