Officials have said that dense fog could be the cause for a 17-car pileup that occurred on Tuesday.
The chain-reaction car accident caused the northbound lanes of Interstate 55 to be closed for nearly two hours. Illinois State Police have said that another accident in Joliet caused one lane to be closed because a semi-truck struck the back of a pickup truck during the morning commute. An injury report on those involved have not been released at this time.
