A national outbreak of Salmonella has caused 77 cases in 26 different states and one person has died as a result of it. The outbreak has been linked to ground turkey, but no recall has been made because the exact source has not been determined.
In Illinois, there have been seven reported cases, the first was in March and the last confirmed case was June 29. The cases range from a 3-year-old to a 60-year-old and are in the following counties: Dupage, Cass, Madison, Will, and Williamson. Salmonella contamination causes intestinal problems and diarrhea.
