A Chicago nursing home facility is being sought by state and federal authorities to pay a penalty of over $100,000 due to allegations of residents overdosing on heroin last February, the Chicago Tribune reported on November 13.
According to reports, at least five elderly residents of “Continental Nursing & Rehabilitation Center” needed hospital treatment due to a heroin overdose. What’s more, one of the residents treated suffered from an overdose shortly after returning to the facility. Reports also revealed the facility was previously investigated by authorities due to similar allegations taking place inside the facility last year. One of Continental’s owners, identified as Moishe Gubin, said in an interview that he has not learned about any of the overdose incidents taking place in the facility.
