Two Chicago police officers were injured in a car crash while responding to a call on the south side of the city early on Friday morning.
The officers were responding to a call for officer assistance around 12:10 a.m. near the intersection of Halstead and 35th when a vehicle approaching the intersection ran the red light. This forced the officer to swerve to avoid a collision, losing control of the vehicle. The police car then crashed into a parked car near the intersection. The other driver involved in the crash did not stop at the scene of the accident.
The two officers were transported to Stroger Hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not life-threatening.
