Law Day is celebrated on the 1st of May each year, and the team at Spiros Law is proud to commemorate it with citizens all across our great nation. The purpose of Law Day is to remind people to appreciate the liberties that we hold dear but often take for granted. It aims to promote respect for the rule of law that allows us to govern ourselves as free people and is the key to our democratic way of life.
This year’s Law Day theme is “Separation of Powers: Framework for Freedom”, and it focuses on the vital separation of powers embued in each of our three separate branches of government. The Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of our government each have checks and balances over another, allowing for a distribution of power that keeps everything in balance for all citizens.
The first Law Day was commemorated in 1958 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. It is promoted by the American Bar Association (ABA) and is an opportunity for everyone to discuss the courts and our legal system.
