An Illinois state trooper was injured on Tuesday, January 21 when his patrol car was struck by a vehicle on I-74.
According to reports, the car accident occurred when a speeding westbound pickup truck lost control and ran into the back of the patrol car. The trooper was working on the scene of another incident when the collision occurred.
After the accident, both men involved in the two-car crash were transported to the hospital with injuries. The trooper’s identity is currently being withheld, though police identified the pickup driver as Ricky Sharp of Galesburg. Sharp was charged for speeding in icy conditions and crashing into a patrol car.
