Two people, a man and wife, were killed in a car accident on Interstate 74 near Farmer City over the weekend.
According to officials, the 63-year-old man and 62-year-old woman were traveling eastbound down the roadway when their car traveled onto the median. Their car traveled hundreds of feet on the median until it fell into an embankment and crashed into a railroad track.
Three other passengers in the car were also injured and taken to Carle Foundation Hospital to be treated. One person was in critical condition when they arrived at the hospital. State and local officials are currently investigating the accident.
